In fact, security guards have to line the stage as he is regularly swamped by over eager fans.

I was impressed, motivated and got some great ideas from it.

As the promotional material says the event was ‘about creating breakthroughs, moving beyond fears and limiting beliefs, accomplishing goals and realizing true desires, turning dreams into reality, creating fulfilling relationships, and modeling the strategies of peak performers to produce a quantum difference in your life.’

If you cut out the hype, the simple message is if you believe in yourself enough you can achieve anything.

A memorable one-liner was “the only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself“.

2. MOST PEOPLE HAVE SELF-DOUBT AROUND UNIVERSAL THEMES.

Ask anyone and most people will admit they lack confidence in some areas of their life. The interesting thing I learnt from this seminar is that this self-doubt is around universal themes. These themes cross age, gender, religous, cultural and language barriers.

Common doubts include ‘I am not good enough’, ‘I am lazy’ and ‘No-one loves me’.

3. YOU CAN LEARN MECHANISMS TO ELIMINATE SELF-DOUBT.

Robbins calls it ‘immersion’ where you break old patterns and build new ones by repetition. He uses a lot of Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques to achieve this with his audiences.

He says “progress is not automatic”.

A memorable moment in the seminar was when we had to visualize ourselves inside a bubble and inside that bubble was a series of videotapes neatly arranged in a time-line that represented all our memories in our lives so far. We had to pull out the negative videotapes and destroy them. This was followed by time spent visualising the future and how your life will look 10 and 20 years from now.

4. BELIEF IMPACTS ON MANY LEVELS.

The Robbins message was that 3 things shape our self-belief. He calls them the Triad. These are our patterns of physiology, focus and language or meaning.

He highlighted this with the quote: “where focus goes energy flows”.

5. OUR VALUES AND BELIEFS SHAPE OUR ACTIONS.

Robbins believes you can “vanquish whatever is holding you back from taking action”.

Walking barefoot across a bed of glowing coals is the physical metaphor he uses in his seminars to prove this point to the skeptics.

6. TO CREATE POSITIVE OUTCOMES YOU MUST TAKE MASSIVE ACTION.

“Where focus goes energy flows” is a quote used by Robbins in his presentation to highlight why you need to know your outcome and why achieving this is a must.

But many people fail to take the next step. They delay, put off and find many reasons or excuses not to act.

Robbins believes “progress is not automatic” and “action is power”. Take action, even if it is the wrong action. He says it is “never a failure if you learn something”.

Robbins spent a fair amount of time in the seminar talking about and demonstrating interpersonal communication skills.

How to Achieve Goal and make your Dream comes true?

Many people set goal or goals and attempted to achieve them within certain set time frame. But very few can achieve their goal.

How many times we have heard of people setting a “New Year Resolution” but every year they are just updating this resolution with a new “target end date”. Why is it that most people cannot achieve their goal but few people can?

What makes these few individual so special that they can achieve goal, at times beyond the imagination of many people?

What makes ordinary people achieving the extraordinary? Apart from having a clear goal in mind, one key element is “a Compelling Reason”. Most people fail to achieve their goal because they lack of a compelling reason.

A compelling reason provides the crucial motivational force for one to focus and continuously push themselves to their limit, out of their comfort zone and eventually achieving their goal. A compelling reason is also the power that assists the individual to overcome every challenge that comes along the way towards the journey of success.

A goal without the backing of a compelling reason is merely a paper talk and will continue to be only existed as a written New Year Resolution.

Therefore for every individual to be able to achieve their goal, they not only must have a clear goal in mind, they must confront themselves to identify the reason why they want to achieve the goal.

The failure of achieving the goal must provide a consequence that put the person in an extremely uncomfortable state.

Does this mean that all those who do not achieve their goal did not have a compelling reason to their goal? No, it is usually not the case.

What is lacking is the awareness of the compelling reason. The reason is in their subconscious mind. Therefore to bring out the awareness of such compelling reason, require a conscious effort.

One technique is to magnify the effect. Magnify the effect of the consequence of achieving the goal. By visualizing the kind of joy when achieving the goal, for example the ability to travel around the world. Magnify the effect of the consequence of not achieving the goal.

Visualize the kind of pain that you are suffering when not achieving the goal. For a person who wants to be able to retire young at age of 45, he can imagine himself at the age of 55 still have to continue working for others, doing work that are not part of his passion, working long hour and only getting a fraction of his pay when he was 10 years ago.

Like what Anthony Robbins mentioned, everything we do is to avoid pain and to achieve pleasure.

By magnifying the pain when not achieving the goal and magnifying the joy of achieving it, it will help to bring it to the conscious awareness of the compelling reason for pursuing the goal.

Keep Your Dream Alive

Young children are full of dreams of what they will do, be, see when they grow up. As adults most of us have given up the habit of having big dreams. Or if we do, never following through with them. Why do so many people let their dreams die unlived?

One reason is the negative cynical attitudes of other people. These people are not enemies they are friends, even family members. If our friends are negative towards our dreams or aspirations –our friends can kill our dreams.

A person gets excited about the possibility of a new business opportunity or a new idea.

They see the opportunity to make money, do more meaningful work, improve their financial future, rise to a personal challenge, change their lifestyle. They get excited about this stimulating new prospect.

But then they tell their neighbour about it over the back fence one evening. The neighbour gets a smirk, a laugh that says, “You can’t do that”, a foot long list of all the problems and obstacles and fifty reasons why they will never make it and are better off to stay where they are.

The person’s enthusiasm disintegrates. They lose all their excitement and self-confidence and begin to think of all the reasons why they can’t make it in a work at home business, instead of the reasons they can succeed in their new investment opportunity.

They have let the negative attitude of someone else become more powerful than their belief in their dream of financial independence and more time with the family.

Friends can do more damage than a dozen enemies. Remember, the easiest thing to find on earth is someone to tell you all the things you cannot be.

Don’t listen to them. Often they have the best intentions. They don’t want you to be hurt or lose money. Often those that try to steal your dreams are very conservative and have achieved little in their own lives.

It is always the person who has never made $40,000 a year, who knows all the reasons why you can’t make $100,000. If you have a dream, give it a chance to happen.

Don’t let your sister-in-law, the plumber or the person in the next office, rob you of that faith in yourself and your new home based business. It is that belief in your dream that makes it into a reality. Don’t let the person who lives on the couch and watches TV every night tell you how futile life is.

Don’t take on other people’s negative attitudes. Surround yourself with positive people. Read inspiring authors. A few suggestions are Susan Jeffers, Paul Hanna, Anthony Robbins and Jim Rohn. Spend at least half an hour a day nourishing your dream. Believe in yourself and you will make your dreams a reality.

Success At Any Time?

It goes without saying that we are unlikely to experience much success in our lives if we don’t take action. That is why Anthony Robbins said,  ”The path to success is to take massive, determined action.”

Having planned to do something, we take action to achieve it.
 
So why is it that we so often decide to do something worthwhile, and either forget it when the time comes, or choose to put it off?
 
The answer is in motivation, or lack of it.
 
But what is motivation? I don’t intend to define it with precision, but I do want to look at something that is always present when we feel motivated – emotion.
 
Ask yourself, when did I last feel truly motivated without feeling some passion for what I intended to do? It could be negative passion as well as positive; for instance, we can be passionate about avoiding pain, but the element of emotion is still there. You cannot be motivated and apathetic at the same time.
 
The way to motivate ourselves is to raise an emotional response to our plans. We can do this in a number of ways, but a good starting point is to ask ourselves a question:
 
Why?
 
Why do I want to achieve this?

What benefits will it bring?

How will I feel when I have done it?
 
Having worked out your reasons, concentrate on visualising the end result. Enjoy the feeling of achievement in your imagination, hear what others will say, see the look of admiration on their faces.
 
How do you feel about achieving it now?
 
Depending on the nature of your goal, you will find it helpful to revisit your imagination at least once a day until you achieve it.

The 80/20 Principle of Success By Anthony Robbins

Fortune will flow into your hands like rivers flow into the sea - if only you can invest a high percentage of your time on a highly valued activity with big pay off.

I mean you can attract great riches into your vault when you habitually focus all your energy on that critical action that will lead you to attaining your much-cherished goal.

Your focus is like a laser beam, which will cut through any obstacle, plough through all obstructions leading you to your desired goal.

Let me tell you, you can achieve anything in life when you concentrate all your spiritual, mental and physical energy to work on one particular task that gives you the maximum result.

Vilfredo Pareto, a 19th century economist and sociologist, propounded the principle that, given a large number of items and a high percentage of the value of the items is concentrated in relatively few of the items.

This principle came about over time when Pareto discovered that 80 percent of the lands then in Italy were owned by 20 percent of the population.

When you apply this principle into your life, your productivity will notch up by as much as 80 percent. And you can get this done when you identify your most important task and focus single-mindedly on doing it. Then delegate, outsource or completely eliminate tasks that are of low value.

Do you want to succeed in life? Every success begins with a clear definition of what it is that you want in life. Decide exactly what you want to do in life.

Then commit yourself zealously to its attainment with unswerving determination. Clarity is everything. You must be absolutely clear about what you want. Then set a realistic goal, which must be clearly written down.

What is a goal? A goal is a statement of ultimate end towards which a person directs all his activities.

Put in another way, we can say a goal is a deliberate selected result towards which you choose to channel all your energies.

After you have set your goal then construct a step-by-step plan that you can work on to that goal. You must develop a dogged resilience to follow through your plans regardless of obstacles.

Motivational speaker Anthony Robbins observed, “What you talk about is a dream. What you envisioned is exciting. What you planned becomes possible. What you scheduled is real.” And the law of efficiency says “There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the important thing”. Do the important thing first and the second thing not at all.

If you decide exactly what you want, make a realistic plan and confidently pursue that plan – I bet you, there is absolutely nothing you cannot achieve in life.

Go Beyond Goals And Achieve Your Dream

As important as goal setting is, goals alone do not ensure that you will achieve the success you desire. A written goal is not some kind of magic talisman whereby whatever you set your heart on manifests in your life out of thin air.

That being the case, what is it that makes the difference between a person who achieves their goals and a person who doesn’t? The answer can be summarised in a single word: lifestyle.

The only difference between those who achieve their goals and those who don’t is the way they live each day. Destiny does not determine your lifestyle. Your lifestyle determines your destiny!

The vast majority of people who aspire to success in life aspire to a particular kind of result. They see successful people on TV, at the movies or in their neighbourhoods and they think, “I want that.”

They look at the wealth, the fame, the physique, the career success, the fulfilling relationships and all the other “results” of success, but they don’t look at the kind of lifestyle which led to that success.

If they did, they would realise that these successful results can all be had, but not apart from the successful lifestyle which precedes them.

Get this point clear in your mind right now:

You can have any kind of success you desire if you are willing to adopt the kind of lifestyle which precedes that success.

I meet many people who, on discovering that I am a writer as well as a life coach, tell me that they too have always wanted to write. “I have a great idea for a book,” they say. “And I’d love to have my name in print… and receive those royalty cheques. It must be absolutely wonderful!”

If you put my life in those terms, then I have to agree. It would be absolutely wonderful to spend my life getting ideas, having my name put in print and collecting royalty cheques.

Unfortunately for the dreamers, there is a lifestyle which precedes all of those results. For example, at five o’clock this morning when everyone else was cosily tucked up in bed, I was in the shower.

At five fifteen I was eating a bowl of breakfast cereal. And at five thirty I was sitting at my desk, putting words on paper. And because I have clients to coach today (and most days) I’ll be here for a while yet.

I don’t want this to sound as though I dislike my work. The fact is that I love writing and coaching. I actually enjoy getting out of bed early in the morning and spending almost all of my day helping people to achieve their dreams.

The point I am trying to make is that if you want success as a writer, you have to live the lifestyle of a writer. That means writing, day in and day out.

The same applies to any other form of success. If you want to achieve the goal of being fit and healthy, you need to adopt the kind of lifestyle which places importance on regular exercise and eating habits.

If you want to achieve the goal of having strong family relationships, you need to adopt the kind of lifestyle which places importance on regular family gatherings and good communication skills.

Once again, let me put it this way:

Destiny does not determine your lifestyle.

Your lifestyle determines your destiny.

Now compare this strategy with the ones contained in the vast majority of self-help titles and you will find their fatal flaw:

Most self-help systems claim that the lifestyle is the goal, the end result of having achieved success. Wrong! The adoption of a properly planned lifestyle is the route to achieving success in the first place. If you still need convincing then consider this:

How do you think most currently mega-successful people lived before they achieved the success they now enjoy?

Did Bruce Willis spend five hours every evening watching soap operas or the latest action movies on video?

Was Anthony Robbins a regular at his local bar, content to happily watch the evenings pass by with just a few drinking pals and beers close by to keep him awake?

Did Meg Ryan spend all day watching daytime television and eating cheese puffs?

Was Nicole Kidman content to work in a dead-end job for little money?

Did Stephen King spend every spare afternoon at the race track or bumming around with a group of loser friends?

Of course, the answer to all of these questions is no. But aren’t these exactly the kind of things that unsuccessful people do all the time?

And aren’t these the kind of things that unsuccessful people actually defend when challenged about their lifestyles? Yes!

The difference lies almost entirely with beliefs and attitude. These distinctions boil down to seven basic secrets of what I call the “Millionaire Mindset”.

Secret 1: Beliefs about Money Millionaires have specific beliefs about money and wealth. This is the most fundamental and most important aspect of becoming (and staying) a millionaire.

Millionaire beliefs include:

I deserve to be rich.

There is more than enough wealth to go around.

When I grow rich, so do others.

I grow rich by adding value to people’s lives. I do this by providing services, knowledge, or products that enrich others.

Creating wealth is enjoyable and fun.

If I desire it, I can achieve it, attract it, possess it, enjoy it.

I am the captain of my own ship.

I am not alone - in building wealth, I have many partners who assist me in the design, implementation, and administration of my products and services. We all benefit from the growth of wealth.

Nobody suffers as a result of me being rich.

Wealth brings the opportunity to assist others.

I am very grateful for everything I have in my life already.
I am on this planet to enjoy my life.

I am already wealthy beyond measure.

How many of those beliefs do you share with the millionaires? Chances are if you do not have all the wealth you desire it is because you may have some limiting beliefs about yourself and money.

We develop our money beliefs primarily from our family and from our early experiences with money. Do you remember your first conscious thought about money? Was it a positive one? Quite often our experiences with money are negative or unsupportive, associated with guilt, blame, fear, jealousy and all manner of low-level emotional states.

Culturally we are also bombarded with messages about money. Have you heard of these ones?

Money does not grow on trees.

Money is the root of all evil.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to pass through the gates of heaven.

The meek shall inherit the earth.

There is virtue in poverty.

When you think about it, these maxims are not at all helpful if you want to grow wealth. If you subscribe to these beliefs, then your ambitions will be in constant conflict with your underlying notions about wealth. The result? A stalemate. No wealth can be grown in these conditions.

Secret 2: Reasons for Building Wealth - The Carrot and the Stick Millionaires have very specific and very compelling reasons for WHY they build wealth. These reasons keep them focussed on their goals. These may include the desire to experience freedom of choice, provide a solid education to their children, assist their favourite charity, eliminate personal debt, ensure a secure future for themselves, or simply to have fun.

Regardless of the particulars of ‘why’ they want to build wealth, all the reasons fall in to two distinct categories. These are the ‘Carrots’ and the ‘Sticks’. Both ‘Carrots’ and ‘Sticks’ are essential components of the Millionaire Mindset.

‘Carrots’ are the juicy incentive. Just like the horse that has the carrot suspended out in front of him to keep him trotting along, aiming for the yummy treat, millionaires also have ‘carrots’.

These might be a new Jaguar, a house on the beach, overseas travel, a fancy wardrobe, a solid education fund for their children, the ability to donate to their favourite charity, a sense of freedom, a sense of adventure, the freedom of choice. The reasons are both tangible and esoteric. Basically the most important thing is that the ‘carrots’ feel good.

‘Sticks’ are the painful reminder of what they don’t want. My aunt who is now very wealthy says the primary reason she worked so hard for financial independence is that she never wanted to experience again the poverty of her childhood.

It was such a painful experience that it served as a whip, a ’stick’, to drive her wealth creation activities. Other wealth creation ’sticks’ might be the pain of oppressive debt, fear of retirement without sufficient funds, the worry of wondering from where the next meal will come.

Anthony Robbins claims that people will do more to avoid pain than they will do gain pleasure. This is a key observation in the development of the Millionaire Mindset. In order to carry through plans for wealth creation, the millionaire on the make needs to have both ‘carrots’ and ’sticks’.

The sticks keep the feet to the fire, keep the awareness of pain as a spur to keep trying, to keep working the plan. The ‘carrots’ however provide the inspiration, the joy, and the rewards. The wealth ‘horse’ moves a lot more effectively if it has both ‘carrots’ and ’sticks’ encouraging it along.

One last word about ’sticks’. If you have too many of them, your life becomes filled with fear - fear of poverty, fear of debt, fear of an under-funded retirement.

This is no way to lead a life, and certainly a very anxious way to approach developing wealth. Some ’sticks’ are a good way to get started, and then focus more on your ‘carrots’. Not only are these much more fun to think about, they will make the process of building wealth far more pleasant and enjoyable.

Secret 3: It’s not about the money Every wealthy person knows that creating a fortune is never about the money itself. It is however about what the money can do. Money allows the experiences that provide pleasure. Ultimately building wealth is about feeling good - nothing more, nothing less.

Can you feel good without building wealth? Absolutely! This is why a wealthy person feels good, feels ‘wealthy’, regardless of the balance of their bank account. For the wealthy person, accumulation of wealth is a process that is as enjoyable as the results.

Wealthy people are not hung up on outcomes or on the balance sheet. Wealthy people focus on the process of adding value to their clients, to their colleagues, to their employees, to their field of work.

They know that in adding value, the laws of reciprocity dictate that value comes back to them in the end. In this way they can feel good at any given time. Creating wealth is as much about service to others as it is about feeling good in their own life.

Secret 4: Awareness is a key skill of wealth creation Those who create and attract wealth have a heightened sense of self. They are keenly aware of what might be stopping their personal growth including personal effectiveness, limiting beliefs, low-level emotional patterns, and lack of knowledge or skill. They take active steps to eliminate blocks to their success.

Those with a Millionaire Mindset are also keenly sensitive to their environment. They surround themselves with people who support and assist them with their goals. They hire coaches, select mentors, and pay for the best advisers they can afford.

They avoid individuals who are negative, pessimistic, or caustic in any way. They design inspiring surroundings that remind them of their personal vision and reflect their individual values. Everything around them is a reflection of who they are at the core and resonates with their vision of themselves already in possession of the wealth they desire.

Secret 5: Focus reveals opportunities Along with heightened awareness, focus on key priorities operates like a giant floodlight: opportunities are revealed by the powerful, focussed light. Without clear focus, these same opportunities may still exist, but because awareness is unfocussed, the individual may not necessarily notice them.

Secret 6:
Repeat baby steps Having focus and heightened awareness is not enough to become wealthy. Inspired and deliberate action is required to create results. Wealthy individuals take measured steps in creating their outcomes. They know that some action is better than none and that baby steps in the moment lead to significant results over time.

Secret 7: Connect to joy, in the moment True wealth comes in the experience of joy, in the moment. This is in fact a choice brought on by awareness of our connection to the whole of mankind, the whole of the universe. When we feel integrated and a part of the great experience of life, we can relax and savour the experience of the moment, now. A great sense of peace thus allows the flow of joy, happiness, and ultimately wealth and prosperity.

So how do you actually create wealth? This is the question people always ask first when they want to escape poverty and make more money. It should in fact be the last question to answer. You cannot attract wealth if you do not have the right beliefs, reasons, focus, awareness, and attitude. Any financial project will flounder without these elements in place first.

With that caveat out of the way, how do you build wealth?

The simple answer is that there are a multitude of methods and strategies. You can employ one or many. These include:

A traditional business enterprise

Investing in shares, managed funds, bonds, etc

Property investment

An online business.

What we know for sure that there are very few ‘jobs’ that pay an extraordinary salary that turns in to massive wealth. Business and investment is really the key to wealth that does not depend on you actually turning up to deliver a service.

How do you get started on the technical side of things of wealth building?

First of all, pick the strategy that you will enjoy. If you are a technophobe, then maybe an on-line business is not for you. If you enjoy home making and decorating, maybe property investment is something for you to pursue. Whatever you choose, you have to enjoy it and make it fun!

There are plenty of good resources out there to teach you the nitty gritty of investing, business building etc. Don’t feel you like you have to go it alone! Get advice, get help, get a coach, get a mentor. Educate yourself - read, read, read. Then take action - baby steps of course!
